Popular Hungarian items include pottery, embroidery fabric, dresses and dolls wearing traditional Hungarian costumes. You can find these souvenirs at the Castle District, Gellert Hill and the traffic-free Vaci utca in the Pest area where a wide range of products are available. For superior Hungarian porcelain, the Apponyi Markabolt and Zsolnay Markabolt are the best places to shop for these treasures. Gourmet foods and exceptional wines are also a must when shopping in Budapest, Hunagry.

One of the historical and oldest markets in Budapest is the Great Market Hall, which is located in Pest. It offers some of the best and least expensive souvenirs available and the shops along the Great Boulevard or Nagykorut and the Budapest Markets are the best places for budget friendly shoppers. There are also large flea markets where you find items at bargain prices.

When shopping in Budapest, Hungary many stores may be closed on Sundays and public holidays and some may close early on Saturdays. Using a credit card for payment at most of the shops and markets, especially those in the tourist areas is acceptable. If you shop at tax-free stores, you may receive a refund, however, you will need to complete and return the required documents in order to qualify.
